Words require Mouths
      About Me
I'm Mike, the owner of an athletic development company called HPC. I recently quit my financially secure day job to 1) finish my PhD and 2) take my business full time. It's a risky venture and a major redirection (hence the blog name) in my life. I love food, hate sleep, and want to be my own boss. I have mild OCD and ADD but I will always post, so please come back if you are interested in following this venture and maybe picking up some random bits along the way.

If you don’t market your business who will? This is something I’ve learned over the past two years as I scrape and scramble to make my business thrive. Anyone that’s spent any time with me over the past 4 months would think that I only own shirts embroidered or printed with the company name and website. Likewise, I always have several business cards and brochures handy to give to the next potential customer.

This is especially important considering that both myself and the business are completely new to NC and we started with no existing clients or local connections. So while I strive to build the business through word of mouth, it’s been important to make sure I’m a walking billboard wherever I go. Because you can’t spread the word if you don’t first have the mouths.
